Important — please read carefully
Axe is a digital backup of your maintenance records and is not a substitute for the original logbooks required by 14 CFR 91.417. The aircraft owner remains solely responsible for maintaining accurate, complete, and current records. Axe makes no representation that the data extracted by AI from uploaded documents is error-free; users are responsible for verifying all data.
By creating an account or using Axe ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
Axe lets pilots and aircraft owners digitize maintenance records, store aviation documents, transcribe handwritten logbook entries with AI, and track recurring maintenance items such as ADs and oil analysis. It is an organizational tool. It is not a regulatory filing system, an FAA-certified record, or a replacement for original logbooks.
14 CFR 91.417 requires the aircraft owner or operator to maintain maintenance records and to keep them in a manner the FAA recognizes. Axe stores digital copies of these records for your convenience. The original signed logbook entries, 8130s, 337s, AD compliance records, and other regulatory documents remain the source of truth. Do not destroy or stop maintaining your originals. If a discrepancy arises between Axe and your original records, the original records control.
Axe uses large-language-model AI (currently Anthropic's Claude) to extract text and structured data from logbook scans, registration certificates, oil reports, and other documents you upload. AI output is not perfect. It may misread handwriting, transpose digits, miss entries, or fabricate fields it cannot read. Every AI-extracted value should be verified against the source document before you rely on it. Axe makes no warranty regarding extraction accuracy.
Use Axe only for your own aircraft and records, or those you are authorized to maintain. Do not upload other people's records without permission. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringes copyright, or contains malware. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Notify us promptly at security@axe.aero if you suspect unauthorized access.
You own everything you upload. We process your data only to provide the Service. We do not sell your data and do not use your aircraft records to train AI models. You can export or delete your data at any time from Settings. See the Privacy Policy for details.
The Service is provided as-is and as-available. We make no uptime guarantee at this stage. Maintenance windows, outages, and bugs will happen. Do not rely on the Service to retrieve regulatory records on a deadline — keep your originals.
Free and paid plans differ in storage, scan, and aircraft limits. Paid plans, when offered, are billed per the terms presented at checkout. You can cancel any time; refunds are not provided for partial periods. Pricing and limits may change with reasonable notice.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms or for non-payment. On termination we will delete your data within 30 days unless you have already exported it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Axe and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to lost data, lost revenue, missed maintenance items, regulatory findings, or aircraft incidents. Aviation safety decisions must always be based on verified original documentation, not on Axe output. Total cumulative liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the prior twelve months.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email or in-app. The "Last updated" date above tracks the latest revision.
